How to prevent the work piece deformation in heating process?

 

There are two types of heat treatment deformation of induction heat  treating equipment: one is the change of the size; the other one  is the change of the geometry of the part. In conventional heat treatment, the main reason for the change of part shape is the thermal stress and the phase transformation stress of heat treatment heating and quenching.

In order to prevent work piece deformation with induction heat treating equipment, it is best to heat slowly and do preheating . The user can choose preheat temperature according to the following principle:

1.Take the abnormal point below as the preheating temperature of the induction heat treating equipment. High speed steel is at 800~850℃
2. Intermediate frequency induction heat treating equipment takes two stage preheating.Keep a period of  fully preheating and then adjust the preheating temperature to below the A1 transformation.

3. Intermediate frequency induction heat treating equipment takes three stage preheating, such as high speed steel, sometimes it need 1000~1050℃ as the third preheating temperature.
