Industry Challenges Restrict Steel Pipe Thermal Processing Performance
The global demand for seamless steel pipes, oil casings and thick-wall mechanical tubing keeps rising in petroleum, chemical and heavy engineering sectors. Traditional batch-type heat treatment furnaces struggle with obvious drawbacks: discontinuous workflow, large temperature fluctuation, heavy oxidation and high energy consumption. Batch processing requires repeated loading and unloading, which leads to unstable metallographic structure, inconsistent hardness and high scrap rate. Thick-wall pipes often suffer inner-outer wall temperature difference, deformation and cracking after heat treatment. Manufacturers are eager for automated continuous thermal processing equipment to upgrade production capacity and product consistency. To solve these long-standing industry bottlenecks, Forever Electromechanical launches its upgraded continuous steel pipe heat treatment furnace, reshaping the pipe heat treatment workflow for global pipe manufacturers.

Forever Electromechanical’s continuous steel pipe heat treatment production line adopts IGBT medium-frequency induction heating as the core heating unit. The linear continuous conveying layout integrates automatic feeding, centering, multi-zone heating, holding, quenching, tempering and discharging into one compact line. Unlike traditional furnaces relying on radiation heating, induction heating transfers heat directly inside the steel pipe wall, delivering fast heating speed and uniform temperature distribution across inner and outer tube surfaces. Multi-group infrared temperature sensors work with PLC closed-loop control system to monitor real-time temperature. The system dynamically adjusts output power and pipe conveying speed according to pipe material, diameter and wall thickness, keeping temperature deviation within a tight range. Short high-temperature holding time effectively reduces surface oxidation and decarburization, preserving smooth pipe surface and precise dimensional tolerance.

The continuous thermal processing line is equipped with annular high-pressure spray quenching station and independent tempering heating zone. After quenching, steel pipes move straight into tempering section without transferring between separate stations, avoiding temperature loss and secondary handling damage. The tempering process eliminates residual internal stress, refines metal grains and improves pipe toughness. This integrated process greatly lowers risks of pipe bending, cracking and uneven hardness. The furnace supports flexible parameter switching for carbon steel, alloy steel and oil casing pipes. Process recipes can be saved and recalled with one click, making changeover between different pipe specifications fast and convenient.
The IGBT induction heating power supply achieves power factor above 0.95, cutting overall energy consumption by over 30% compared with conventional batch furnaces. Modular mechanical structure simplifies daily maintenance; induction coils can be replaced quickly to shorten downtime. The whole line supports 24-hour non-stop continuous operation with only minimal manual supervision. Remote monitoring and fault diagnosis functions are available for overseas clients, enabling timely technical support and reducing on-site maintenance pressure.

With decades of experience in induction thermal processing equipment, Forever Electromechanical provides one-stop solutions including process simulation, equipment design, manufacturing, on-site commissioning and operator training. The continuous steel pipe induction hardening and tempering process has been delivered to multiple overseas projects, winning positive feedback for stable operation and consistent pipe quality. As global metal manufacturing pursues low-carbon and intelligent transformation, Forever Electromechanical will keep optimizing continuous thermal processing technology and supply reliable customized heat treatment systems for worldwide steel pipe producers.
