The core process principle of steel ball hot rolling production line:
The high-temperature round steel bar material rotates and advances under the biting and driving of the rolling mill. Under the continuous squeezing and rolling action of the spiral cavity, the metal flows along the cavity and is continuously rolled into one or more complete spheres in one go.
Main process characteristics
1. Efficient and continuous, almost waste free
Single machine continuous ball discharge: After heating, the bar material enters the rolling mill and is continuously cut into shape like an "apple". The ball discharge is continuous, and the production efficiency is extremely high (for example, small bearing balls can produce hundreds per minute).
The material utilization rate is extremely high: close to 100%. Except for the loss of end material heads, there are almost no process wastes such as burrs and risers, which is much higher than forging and casting.
2. Near net forming, complete streamline
High geometric accuracy: The geometric shape (roundness, diameter) of the rolled steel ball blank is very close to the final product, and the machining allowance is extremely small, only about 0.3-0.6mm.
Excellent metal streamline: Metal fibers are continuously distributed along the surface of the sphere without being cut, forming dense and coherent streamline lines. This endows the steel ball with higher fatigue strength and wear resistance, which is the key to its performance advantage.

3. Highly automated and integrated production processes
A complete remote steel ball hot rolling machine is a highly integrated system that typically includes:
Loading and feeding system: Automatically feed the fixed length rod material into the heating furnace.
Induction heating system: using an intermediate frequency induction furnace to achieve fast, uniform, and precise heating (with precise temperature control and minimal oxidation).
Hot rolling forming host: the core equipment that completes the plastic forming of steel balls.
Ring and residual material separation system: Separate the rolled "ball strings" and cut off the ring (connecting ribs) and material heads and tails.
Heat treatment wiring: often directly connected to the waste heat quenching wire. Using high temperature after rolling (about 850-900 ℃) for online quenching directly saves a lot of energy and is a key step in achieving high efficiency and energy conservation.
Automatic counting and collection: Finished balls are automatically counted, collected, and transported.
4. The product quality is stable and consistent
Process stability: Due to the continuous automation process, there is minimal human intervention, avoiding quality fluctuations caused by operational differences in traditional processes.
Uniform organization: rapid heating and forming, grain refinement, uniform internal structure of steel balls, laying a good foundation for subsequent heat treatment.
Consistent size: The same batch of steel balls has small size dispersion and strict tolerance control.
5. Outstanding advantages in energy conservation and environmental protection
Waste heat utilization: As mentioned earlier, combined with online quenching process, it can save a large amount of energy consumption required for secondary heating (about 30% -40%).
Clean production: Induction heating has less oxidation, no forging smoke and huge noise pollution, and a good working environment.
